McLaren manages extensive, diverse labour forces across complex, zoned construction sites in the UAE. The standard McLaren/innDex UK methodology needed customisation for the regional context.
With substantially migrant labour forces from multiple nations and languages, many operatives lacked personal digital access, email, or smartphones. Local process norms and legislative frameworks also differ from the UK.
Customised Approach:
McLaren's timekeepers handle bulk uploads through innDex instead of individual worker accounts. A zone-based mixed-hardware implementation was deployed, including face scanning at bus drop-off points, tablet-based scans at office security, and turnstiles at physical site boundaries, providing clean real-time presence data at each threshold crossing.
Early Outcomes:
Live presence data with complete visibility of all site occupants. Time records revealed extended working patterns, informing fatigue risk management. Subcontractor oversight confirming appropriate personnel presence. This established the foundation for progressive consolidation of inspections, asset tracking, and more.
Zone-based access control and time capture are now operational with all employees uploaded. Timekeeping is in active trial, and teams are transitioning inspections and asset management from paper and fragmented systems.
What's Next: Subcontractor bulk uploads, shifting admin burden to subcontractors with McLaren oversight, and expanded workflow integration toward single-pane visibility.
